These gazettes were first published in 1892 then taken over by the Government of Zanzibar in 1894. Notices of officer appointments begin from February 1909. During the first decade, the gazettes also included news updates from Uganda and East Africa. Earlier publications would cover import and export statistics, weather reports and currency exchange rates. 1913 saw the introduction of legal records as the gazettes adopted a more formal format. Significant events include the Makanjira Campaign to take part of Malawi from the Yao people and the 1st Matabele War against the Ndebele people of Zimbabwe in February 1894. The Boer War and the 'Anglo-Egyptian Soudan Convention' of 1899 also feature. We don't have the Annual Departmental Reports for Tanzania, either Zanzibar or Tanganyika. We will publish the Annual Reports for Tanzania in the near future.
