The East London Pioneer, 1936-1937
Collection: The British Union of Fascists: Newspapers and Secret Files, 1933-1951 Volumes The East London Pioneer, 1936-1937
The East London Pioneer was a short-lived newspaper launched by the BUF in October 1936, circulating in the Boroughs of Bethnal Green, Hackney, Shoreditch, and Stepney. Originally intended to be a monthly, it lasted less than a year, and even then failed to live up to its initial billing. Many of the earliest issues deal with the fallout from the the so-called Battle of Cable Street, when anti-fascist activists confronted and successfully repelled a BUF march through the East End.
