Five items relating to West Africa from a box in the C series, including: (i) 1753 March 14: bill of exchange from Rev. Thomas Thompson, Cape Coast Castle; (ii) 1762 February 10: letter from Rev. Thomas Thompson to Rev. M. Moore [sic?] of Charter House Square, London; (iii) 1762 November: letter from Samuel Poirier, Secretary to the Committee of the Company of Merchants Trading to Africa, with an extract from a letter (1762 August 15) of Governor Charles Bell at Cape Coast Castle, relating Cudjoe's request for the return of "three black boys, which were carried home by Mr Thompson, the parson"; (iv) 1764 September 22: Samuel Poirier of the African Office re appointment of clergyman and school master in Senegal, with extract of a letter (1764 July 9) to the Committee from John Barnes, Governor of Senegal and the Council of Fort Lewis; (v) 1764 November 28: letter from Samuel Poirier stating that the African Committee will do anything reasonable for a clergyman and school master for Senegal.
