Preserving local history through heritage scanning
Having worked with an array of local museums and councils, Microform is proud to help communities preserve their history and culture.
Offering a range of specialist scanning services to both organisations and individuals, we strive to ensure that local heritage is preserved for future generations.
How heritage scanning works
Depending on the items being scanned, the usual process begins with a consultation with one of our experts who will discuss and arrange a bespoke scanning service with an organisation or individual.
Due to the variation of projects that we work with, every service we offer is totally so that we can ensure total dedication and quality of service.
Once a project has been clarified, the majority of the time we send out our Microform marked and digitally tracked vehicles to ensure that the safety of materials is accounted for.
Before they depart, items due for scanning are checked against a roster to ensure that no document, book, photograph, or certificate is forgotten.
Upon arrival at our facilities, the materials are checked once again before the actual scanning process begins.
Throughout, rigorous quality checks are made to ensure that each and every image adheres to an important standard of quality.
Once all scans have taken place, sample images are then sent to the client for checks and sign-off.
Depending on the wishes of the client, the original materials can then be delivered to the client alongside the digital images, or they can be destroyed and if possible, recycled at our secure facilities.
